The Questors

Season’s Greetings

Alan Ayckbourn

The whole family is coming for Christmas. Brace yourself.

It’s the Christmas family get-together at the Bunker home. The men watch TV and go down the pub. The women do all the cooking and look after the kids. It’s the same every year. Except this time.

Unlucky in love Rachel brings along handsome young novelist Clive, hoping to transform their new friendship into something more. But she’s not the only one who wouldn’t mind getting near the mistletoe with him.

Sister Belinda – stuck in a stale marriage and pining for some excitement – finds Clive’s charms hard resist. And alcoholic sister-in-law Phyllis wouldn’t mind getting more familiar with this mildly famous writer too – especially after one too many drinks.

Will any of their husbands’ realise what’s going on? Loose cannon Uncle Harvey certainly has his suspicions about this new chap – and a career in security has taught him how to handle these situations.

Season’s Greetings is the perfect antidote to the onslaught of forced Christmas cheer. If you’re not familiar with the play, think ‘Love Actually’ for people who aren’t that fond of Christmas (or Hugh Grant). And after watching Ayckbourn’s entertaining comedy who knows, perhaps your own Christmas won’t feel quite so bad.

Running time approximately 2 hours 30, including a 15 minute interval
Tickets: £14 (£12 conc, £7 under-16/student). Final Friday and Saturday: £18 (£15 conc, £9.50 under-16/student). First night only: £7
